Mission & Interests

Goals: idD Portugal Defence is Portugal’s interface in the areas of defence & security and space, bridging the knowledge and information gap in assuming the role of liaison between the government and IOs with Portuguese companies and businesses, or organisations, in the broad sense of the word, to include SMEs, start-ups, clusters, associations, and research institutes. Further assuming the role of advocate on behalf of the Portuguese DTIB, at home and abroad, we contribute to policymaking discussions and decision-making processes, representing the interests of our network and Nation. Covering 40 sectors of activity that promote synergies between the dual military and civilian use, our DTIB comprises 346 firms and 61 R&D and education & training entities. This ecosystem is made of companies with a very foreign-oriented activity, with increasing market diversification outside the EU, which results in world-wide partnerships and a growing integration in international value chains.

Info Members: idD Portugal Defence works closely with the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, Embassies and Defence Attaches, both on R&D and capabilities as well as other industry matters, ensuring the DTIB internationalisation, contributing to the European life cycle management and to Portugal’s participation in collaborative projects such as PESCO, EDIPD, PADR, EDF.
