Goals: The AIHTA is an independent entity for scientific decision-support in the health sector. We provide the scientific basis for decisions in favor of an efficient and appropriate use of resources. The methodology used is health technology assessment (HTA): HTA refers to the systematic evaluation of properties, effects, and/or impacts of health technology. It is a multidisciplinary process to evaluate the social, economic, organizational and ethical issues of a health intervention or health technology. The main purpose of conducting an assessment is to inform a policy decision making.

• Regulation (EU) 2017/745 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 2017 on medical devices, amending Directive 2001/83/EC, Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and repealing Council Directives 90/385/EEC and 93/42/EEC
• Regulation (EU) 2017/746 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 2017 on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and repealing Directive 98/79/EC and Commission Decision 2010/227/EU
• REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on health technology assessment and amending Directive 2011/24/EU, COM/2018/051 final - 2018/018 (COD)
• Pharmaceutical Legislation consisting of a new Directive (repealing and replacing Directive 2001/83/EC and Directive 2009/35/EC) and a new Regulation (repealing and replacing Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 on the authorization and supervision of medicinal products for human and veterinary use and establishing a European Medicines Agency and No. 141/2000 on “orphan” medicinal products and incorporating relevant parts of the Paediatric Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1901/2006)).
