Main EU Legislative Proposals: Sustainable development goals; Agriculture/fisheries/aquaculture; Sustainable fisheries partnership agreements (SFPA) with non-EU countries; WestMed strategy; Vocational training in developing countries; Institution building; Global mine action; IDPs, refugees and migration.
Communication Activities: HOPE aims at interacting with MEPs and their staff in order to raise awareness and prepare the ground for parliamentary questions and recommendations on arguments related to its activities and areas of interest such as: civilian protection post-conflict situations, implementation of development cooperation policies, climate change, sustainable development goals. HOPE wants to support the EU initiative to transitioning the world to a low-carbon, climate-neutral, resource-efficient and biodiverse economy in full compliance with the UN 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs, in order to reduce unsustainable tendencies that rely on the overexploitation of natural resources as well as the loss of biodiversity caused by unsustainable consumption and production models especially in the fishing sector in the developing countries. Moreover, HOPE aims to advocate, in coordination with other NGOs from the Horn of Africa and MENA regions, on relevant arguments related to the EU development mechanisms in those regions.
