Mission & Interests

Goals: May 1st Labor Union (lt. Gegužės 1-soios profesinė sąjunga) was established as a general workers union of all trades, operating on the territory of Lithuania. It seeks to provide a voice for both those who are working in permanent, temporary or precarious conditions. The union also accepts those out of work (pensioners, students, people with disability) and help them with their financial struggles. The goal of the union is to help unionize those parts of the labor force usually underrepresented in the large trade unions in Lithuania: the temporarily employed, gig-worker working through apps, those working so called "student" jobs, retail workers etc. As of October 2020, the "Couriers' Association" was established under the May 1st Labor Union, uniting food couriers working in Lithuania. In September 2022 a ukrainian refugee branch was established and in 2023 an Art Workers Union was established under G1PS.
