Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Through its participation in the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) TPF is indirectly involved in the area of formulating the bases for EU research and innovation policy making.
Communication Activities: In 2018, as a member of a consortium led by the Technopolis Group, TPF participated in the Social Business Initiative (SBI) follow-up: Cooperation between social economy enterprises and traditional enterprises project, EASME/COSME/2016/018. The study aimed to deepen knowledge about cross-sector cooperation relationships between social enterprises and traditional profit-making enterprises and how to strengthen European social enterprises’ ecosystems. TPF contributed to the development of important initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and innovativeness of European science and economy, of which launching an initiative in the area of transport - the "Towards a single and innovative European Transport System” project, proposed by Prof. Jerzy Buzek, former President of the European Parliament – is an example. The initiatives were discussed during sessions co-organised by the Technology Partners Foundation as part of the programmes of the annual European Innovation Summits in the European Parliament in Brussels – see the list below. TPF took part in the SINTRAS („Towards a Single and Innovative European Transport System”) project (no. MOVE/C2/SER/2015-582/SI2.727958), commissioned by DG MOVE, coordinated by the Joint Institute for Innovation Policy (JIIP) and with the participation Rupprecht Consult – Forschung & Beratung GMBH. The main objective of the project, executed March-December 2016, was to recommend a set of implementable and effective actions to substantially improve Europe’s transport system through better adoption of innovation and new technology. To achieve this objective, the main tasks of the study included an in-depth examination of the current state of play in each focus area in each of the Member States; identification and description of the barriers and their underlying root causess and building roadmaps of policy interventions and actions, with initial monitoring indicators, targeting the various classes of identified root causes. International events organised by TPF and relating to European research and innovation policies: • “Research to Business” EARTO Annual Conference (Warsaw, 14-15 April 2005) • “R&D Management & R&D Communications” Panel Session during the 1st European Innovation Summit, “Strengthening Europe’s Innovation Performance” (Brussels, 13-14 October 2009) • “Poland – An Important Driver of the Innovation Union” Debate during the 2nd European Innovation Summit, “Tackling the Grand Challenges – Policy meets Practice” (Brussels, 11-12 October 2010) • “Delivering the Innovation Union: The Essential Contribution of RTOs” EARTO Annual Conference (Warsaw, 12-13 May 2011) • 3rd European Innovation Summit, “Towards a European Innovation Ecosystem” (Warsaw, 10-11 October 2011) • “Drivers and Enablers of Innovation - Implementation at Regional Level” Session during the 4th European Innovation Summit, “Building Bridges - Creating Synergies” (Brussels, 9-10 October 2012) • “Towards a European Innovation Partnership in Transport” Session during the 5th European Innovation Summit, “Making Innovation Happen” (Brussels, 30 September - 2 October 2013) • “Towards a better European Transport System” Session during the 6th European Innovation Summit, “A Mandate for Innovation in Europe” (Brussels, 17-20 November 2014) • “Innovation, Internet, Industrialization: An Integrated Highway to Growth” Debate during the 7th European Innovation Summit, “A Pact for Innovation” (Brussels, 7-10 December 2015) • “Innovate the European Transport System: Routes to Growth, New Jobs and Reindustrialisation” Debate during the 6th European Innovation Summit, “Future Now!” (Brussels, 14-17 November 2016) • “Making the Most of Opportunities in Electromobility” Plenary Session and “Opportunities for innovation and new technology in Electromobility” Debate during the 10th European Innovation Summit, “Europe – A Global Leader in Science, Technology and Innovation” (Brussels, 26-30 November 2018)
