Mission & Interests

Goals: Social Impact Alliance for Central & Eastern Europe is an international think-and-do tank operating in 11 countries of Central & Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Rep., Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia – with a mission to facilitate more sustainable and impact-oriented investments and business practices in the region. We actively work to: - initiate dialogue with global and regional stakeholders, - build strategic partnerships across sectors - raise awareness, - combine business and social goals, - equip decision makers with reliable data on Central and Eastern Europe, - create a supportive and easy-to-navigate ecosystem (also tax and legal), - encourage and coordinate collective action. We contribute to the UN 17 Sustainable Developments Goals by building and strengthening the impact ecosystem in the region.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: ensuring competitiveness within the EU single market by creating common tax regulations and mechanisms regarding individual and corporate philanthropy and other business practices aimed at generating positive impact; eliminating tax and legal barriers and risks for individuals, businesses and investors willing to get engaged; influencing already existing tax regulations in order to simplify the philanthropic activities of individuals and impact-oriented business practices; reducing barriers within the UE by implementing EU regulations on cross-border philanthropy.
Communication Activities: Our main aim is to prepare to and advocate for a transformative changes within the CEE region (11 EU member states) in order to activate leaders and society at large to live, invest and conduct business in a sustainable and impact-oriented way. We deliver unique, reliable data for the region and communicate recommendations, hoping they will serve us and other organizations as a good starting point for further actions. In 2023, we published the report "Unlocking Private Capital for Social Good in Central and Eastern Europe". It is a comprehensive analysis of the research conducted between 2020 and 2023 in collaboration with key stakeholders and decision-makers in 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. It also includes insights from Ukraine. It is a summary of 7,600 quantitative interviews and more than 230 meetings with representatives from private, public and social sectors. The accumulated knowledge was described from three perspectives: countries, target groups and knowledge areas. Since then, we have been working with CEE and other European stakeholders on proposing implementable, systemic solutions.
