Mission & Interests

Goals: Fost Plus is a non-profit organisation responsible for the selective collection, sorting and recycling of household packaging waste in Belgium. Fost Plus was established in 1994 on the instigation of the industry and commerce, and operates in all three regions of the country. By joining the collective system of Fost Plus, packaging companies contribute to realising ambitious Belgian and European recycling targets.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Proposal for a revision of EU legislation on Packaging and Packaging Waste; Review of the Waste Framework Directive; Policy framework for bio-based, biodegradable and compostable plastics; Proposal for a Regulation on substantiating green claims using the Product Environmental Footprint methods; Proposal for Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation; Regulation on recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods; Regulation on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food when placed on the European market
