Mission & Interests
Goals: FTP may develop, alone or in collaboration with third parties, directly or indirectly, all activities related, directly or indirectly, to its purpose. FTP may, in particular develop the following non exhaustively listed activities for the general or specific account of its Members and/or third parties:
(a) Create opportunities for cooperative research and innovation at European level;
(b) Develop and promote a joint vision of the forest-based value-chain in the European Research Area;
(c) Develop, promote and implement a strategic research and innovation agenda;
(d) Provide an international platform in which Members, industry’s actors, forest owners and public authorities are working together to advance competitiveness, sustainability and innovation in the forest-based sector;
(e) Strengthen the innovation profile of the forest-based sector;
(i) Represent the interests of its Members vis-à-vis the European Union institutions, the governments of countries

Organisation Members: The forest-based sector technology platform is a non-profit international association under Belgian law (aisbl). Founding Members are the following European Confederations and Associations: the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois), the Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF), the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and later joined by the European State Forest Association (EUSTAFOR), who jointly saw the necessity of establishing a Technology Platform for the forest-based sector.
The association also have company members (Large Full Company Members and SME Full Company Members). As well as associate members.
The FTP also organise an Advisory Committee consisting of representatives of National Support Groups - a network to strengthen the transparency, cooperation and information exchange in the area of research & innovation.
