Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: EUROTOX is actively harmonising toxicology education and training, having established the European Register of Toxicologists in 1994 with the goal of providing Europe with well-trained toxicologists to ensure the safety of society in general. Currently the register consists of close to 2,000 members and a total of 26 national registers across Europe.
Chemicals legislation (REACH, CLP, Regulation EC 1107/2009, Regulation (EU) 528/2012 and others):
EUROTOX is monitoring developments in legislation concerning chemicals, plant protection products, biocides and others with regard to safety assessments for human health. Recent priorities include nanomaterials and endocrine disruptors.
Communication Activities: Commentary published in Elsevier's Toxicology Letters (2016) "The European Registered Toxicologist (ERT): Current status and prospects for advancement" to recognise the need for professional competence, scientific integrity and credibility of toxicology professionals across Europe.
Statement Paper published in Elsevier's Toxicology Letters (2016) "Toxicology as an academic discipline in European Universities” to draw attention to the critical importance of the toxicology in protecting the health of consumers, workers and the environment.
Chemicals legislation (REACH, CLP, Regulation EC 1107/2009, Regulation (EU) 528/2012 and others)
