Mission & Interests

Goals: The Federation of European Motorcyclists' Associations (FEMA) is the European federation of national road rider organisations. FEMA represents, defends and promotes motorcycling and the interests of millions of powered two-wheeler users across Europe. Through its 21 national organisations from 16 countries, FEMA reaches directly 266,000 dedicated motorcyclists representing all social groups.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: EU transport policy, EU road safety strategy, PPE, C-ITS, ADAS, (semi-)automatic driving, ARAS, V2V-communication, eCall, urban mobility, multi-modal mobility, EU and UN environment policy, EU energy policy, energy transition, Green Deal, Fit for 55, driving licences, sound emissions, EU and UN technical demands regulations, General Safety Regulation, road infrastructure (RISM Directive), transport costs allocation (internalisation of external costs), insurances (MID), End-of-life Vehicles Directive, Whole Vehicle Type Approval Regulation, Road Worthiness Inspections.
Communication Activities: Periodical publications about developments in road safety that are relevant for motorcyclists, ITS, ADAS, ARAS,EU and UNECE legislation etc. FEMA regularly publishes information about EU transport policy, EU road safety strategy, PPE, C-ITS, autonomous driving, urban mobility, EU and UN environment policy, EU energy policy, energy transition, driving licences, sound emissions and EU and UN technical demands regulation to inform stakeholders. FEMA also started campaigns to enhance motorcycle safety by better and safer road infrastructure, better initial training, new technical developments and to reduce excessive noise by motorcycles. We regularly give presentations about motorcycle road safety, driving licence policy, etc. In 2018 we co-organized an event on “Road Infrastructure Safety - The Motorcyclists' Vision". FEMA was part of the organization of the ITF/OECD Motorcycle Workshop. In 2023 we publisjhed two reports about safe infrastructure and road surface friction, both from the motorcyclists' view. FEMA is active in communication through her website (www.femamotorcycling.eu), Twitter (1620 followers), Facebook (75500 followers), Instagram.
