Mission & Interests

Goals: 1. To keep member organisations informed of proposed legislation affecting maritime affairs which is before the European Community Commissioners or any other government. 2. To consider and endeavour to obtain an improvement or amendments to laws and rules which may be desirable to improve the status and customer confidence of members. 3. To disseminate and update professional knowledge and information amongst the memeber organisations. 6. To foster exercise of highest quality of profesional service in the field of maritime surveying and consulting. 7. To protect professional titles "Maritime Consultant" and "Marine Surveyor".

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: As a federation of associations of maritime and inland navigation surveyors, FEMAS is committed to providing advice that contributes to the safety of navigation (inland, seagoing, fishery, yachting), both technically and nautically. Based on the background of our members as technical or nautical surveyors, we have extensive practical experience in this field. Moreover, our scope of work also includes the Green Deal related to shipping such as organising studies and presentations on alternative fuels and propulsion. - Drawing up standards in inland navigation (CESNI-PT) - Stakeholders Advisory Group on Maritime Security (E01087) - European standard for Qualifications in inland navigation (ES-QIN)
Communication Activities: Organising webinars related to the shipping industrie. Visit to EMSA (Lisbon) to express our intentions to participate in the creation of shipping regulations. Joining CESNI-PT.
