Mission & Interests
Goals: FEES is the Federation of the European Ergonomics Societies. Its mission is to enhance the recognition of Ergonomics contributing to economic development, to quality of life, to health and safety at work, and to social progress in European countries.
FEES is a network of the ergonomics societies in the various countries in Europe according to the description by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) of IEA Networks. Members are ergonomics societies, not individuals. All ergonomics societies in Europe can be a member of FEES - inside the European Union landscape, but also beyond.
Objectives :
• enhancing mutual communication between various European ergonomics societies,
• encouraging and facilitating contact and exchanges between ergonomists (educators, researchers and/or practitioners),
• assisting in the organisation of European conferences about evolving ergonomics, in cooperation with the national societies,

The reference to the transparency register is a new requirement from the Machinery Directive group. We need to fill this condition in order to contribute to this workgroup. This contribution is a mandatory mission, decided by our council.
Communication Activities: Train4work : EU funded project (ERASMUS +) aiming at the strengthening of the knowledge and skills of targeted professionals in the design of human-centred workplaces. Project outputs will be made available through an online training course, initially in English, Spanish, German and French.
ETUI: cross activities on machine issues through joint meetings and the ERGOMACH project; Organisation of a joint conference (ETUI BES FEES and CREE) in Brussels – 2017 on workers participation in the design of work; FEES attendance in several ETUI conferences
Machinery Directive : FEES is formally member of the EU standing committee, make proposals in the M=directive revision process; FEES has contributed to the set up of the ERGOMACH group; FEES has initiated a cooperation with ETUI on this issue
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) : In 2019 FEES was present at the CEN PPE sector forum (April 3rd) in Brussels. In preparation is a document about ergonomic aspects for the use of Exo-skeletons at the workplace. This document will be made together with Henk Vanhoutte of ESF (European Safety Federation). This document will be presented in the EU PPE WG and CEN PPE Sector Forum in due time.
Future of work : A call to the FEES members for a contribution in the project “Future of work” launched by the IEA and for the gathering of information from the member societies on this issue. Initiatives have been take by ILO:
-Publication of a consolidated report
-Resolution on the issue future of work adopted in June 2019

Info Members: 5 persons are directly involved in the activities. several others members of the affiliated associations, may contribute as much as necessary. Their % of time is not evaluable.
There is no employee in FEES. Our interest representatives are all volunteers, and are not FEES employees. They are elected by a council, and their missions as their actions are decided once a year, during the annual council meeting. All representatives are experts in the ergonomic field.
The budget of our organization covers the travel expanses for the representation and action requirements and the internet site. we have no office, all activities gather members through Europe, by internet means
