Mission & Interests
Goals: The Federation of European Storytelling (FEST) is an international network of organisations, networks and associations active in the field of oral storytelling. We have 98 member in 26 different countries.
FEST aims to empower the world of oral storytelling through sharing, learning and relationship building.
FEST wants to enhance the visibility and the recognition of oral storytelling as a performing art.
FEST focuses on professional development of the oral storyteller as a performing artist and as a professional provider of oral storytelling in other (cultural) sectors.
FEST wants to raise the European dimension of oral storytelling events and transnational cooperation in the sector as well as build a 'culture for storytelling' (audience development).
FEST supports the mobility of oral storytellers and organisation staff through conferences, training activities, festivals and mentorship.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: FEST in a European network with special interest in EU cultural policy: European Agenda for Culture, EU Workplan for Culture, Culture Deal. Next to the Creative Europe programme for culture, FEST follows developments in programmes Horizon2020 and Erasmus+.
We follow policies and initiatives on mobility, cultural diplomacy, cultural heritage, social issues, education and competences.
FEST actively contributes to the focus group on the skills partnership for the CCIs ecosystem under the Pact for Skills and the EAC Cultural Heritage expert group.
Communication Activities: FEST is a network for international exchange, sharing and presenting of best practices in the world of oral storytelling. We actively support and create opportunities to enhance the future and recognition of oral storytelling as a performing art through professional development and training.
Members are the main stakeholders of the network and priority partners for project collaboration and co-creation, as well as multilateral collaborations with other sectors.

- linking up with existing international and national Storytelling events and existing EU
initiatives like the European year of Cultural Heritage and the European Capital of Culture (2018)
- The network connects with other cultural networks, organisation and educational institutions who partner with us to creating knowledge to support the development and resilience of the sector.
