Mission & Interests

Goals: ART 2. Section 1. Aims In keeping with the fundamental human rights stipulated and adopted by supranational organisations and followed by national as well as regional and local governments, EUDY shall have the below mentioned aims: a. Foster the personal development of young Deaf persons, including the strengthening of their identity, their sign language and cultural heritage; b. Empower young Deaf persons to become citizens in their own right by ensuring full and equal access to all information and communication through sign language c. Promote the rights as well as the access to education, employment, and others for any young Deaf person from urban and rural areas in the regions, including the less developed ones, in Europe; d. Encourage political and social participation in society from an early age; e. Further mutual understanding among Deaf youth across cultures, countries, and regions at all levels to facilitate the exchange of ideas, skills, and experiences.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: At the moment, we are following up the work procedures from the Disability Intergroup and issues about marginalised groups such as BIPOC and LGBTI+ whenever applicable.
Communication Activities: EUDY is also sharing information about/from European institutions such as activities and relevant MEPs, intergroups and other important legal procedures, etc.

Info Members: The director and deputy directors are responsible for the activities related to the European Parliament such as liaising with MEPs and its assistants and attending meetings and conferences regarding the disability rights while the Inclusion Officer is responsible for attending meetings and conferences regarding marginalised groups such as LGBTI+ and anti-racism & diversity. The Media and Communication Officer is responsible for sharing different publications done from the European Institutions. Approximately, 1 hour a week, totalling less than 9.999€ on annual basis.

Is Member Of: EUDY is a Full Member of European Youth Forum and an associate member of European Disability Forum. EUDY consults 32 member organisations which are either Youth National Association of the Deaf or Youth Section under National Association of the Deaf from across Europe.
Organisation Members: EUDY werkt nauw samen met European Union of the Deaf, de belangenorganisatie voor alle doven in de lidstaten van de Europese Unie. Verder onderhoudt EUDY nauwe contacten met European Youth Forum, Jongerencomité van European Disability Forum, European Deaf Students' Union en European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters.
