Mission & Interests

Goals: ETOA is a trade association, primarily providing events and services for tour operators and suppliers with business in European destinations. Over 1100 associate members contribute more than €12bn of business within Europe and include tour and online operators, intermediaries and wholesalers; European tourist boards, hotels, attractions and other tourism suppliers. Our purpose is to provide valuable services, expertise and actionable information to the travel trade; design and deliver market-leading trade events and seminars (in-person and online). We seek to act in the long term interests of European visitor economy such that destinations remain appealing places to live and visit and do business in, and thus remain a sustainable source of employment for the foreseeable future.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The company provides support for the activities of European Tourism Association AISBL (Transparency Register 155317830583-03) so may act in relation to any of its policy priorities. In general, these relate to the business environment for tourism within and to Europe. Current areas of focus include: - EES and ETIAS - Package Travel - VAT: both the VAT package on travel and tourism, and VAT in a digital age (ViDA) - Mobility package as it affects driving hours and rest times for coach drivers The organisation is currently involved in attempting to influence in the following ways: - providing organisational support to European Tourism Association AISBL - contacting travel industry stakeholders to elicit opinion as to potential impact of proposed measures - coordinating joint efforts to illustrate impact of proposals - assisting Frontex with dissemination of accurate information about ETIAS, thereby having an opportunity to influence how that information is shared to make recommendations as to its content
Communication Activities: We send out newsletters on behalf of European Tourism Association AISBL which include calls to action in relation to EU policy.
