Mission & Interests
Goals: ESLA is the umbrella organisation for Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Associations across Europe.
We currently have 35 member associations in 32 countries, representing over 40,000 SLT professionals.
ESLA aims to be the authoritative voice of the Speech and Language Therapy profession and supports the common interests of its members. It aims to increase the visibility and awareness of Speech Language Therapy
in Europe and beyond by actively promoting the profession, and safeguarding professional and educational standards.
Its vision is to be the leading organization representing the interests of the speech and language therapy
profession in Europe.
ESLA’s strategic objectives are to
1: be the authoritative voice of Speech and Language Therapy in Europe,
2: increase recognition, promotion and protection of the profession,
3: ensure the sustainability of the organisation.

Communication Activities: ESLA has published a number of position statements and guidance documents for Speech-Language Therapists across Europe. All documents are available on the organisation's website.
ESLA continues to promote and build on previous work that was undertaken by the Standing Liaison Committee of Speech and Language Therapists / Logopedists in the European Union (CPLOL). An example of one of those projects was the NETQues project - Network for Tuning Standards and Quality of Education Programmes in Speech and Language Therapy/Logopaedics across Europe (NetQues): a multilateral academic and professional network. EU funded project (Project No. 177075-LLP-1-2010-1-FR-ERASMUSENWA).
In 2020 ESLA issued a position statement in support of Telepractice in Speech and Language Therapy professional practice.
