Goals: The European Society for Evolutionary Biology is a learned society with over 1000 members. The objective of the society is to promote the study of organic evolution. The society seeks to achieve this object by, among other things: publishing the professional journal "The Journal of Evolutionary Biology"; co-publishing the professional journal "Evolution Letters"; organizing congresses and scientific meetings; rendering financial and other support to research into organic evolution; supporting activities to foster a scientifically based understanding of organic evolution in teaching and research; doing anything related to the above, directly or indirectly, or incidental thereto, all in the broadest sense.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The European Society for Evolutionary Biology has a strong interest in Horizon 2020.
Communication Activities: ESEB runs a biennial congress in a different European city each time, with typically 1500 delegates. The Society also coordinates and runs Outreach and Training initiatives, supports the annual European Meeting of PhD Students in Evolutionary Biology (EMPSEB), and publishes the learned Journal of Evolutionary Biology (JEB) as well as co-publishing the learned journal Evolution Letters.

Info Members: We have an office manager who runs the office. All other work done for ESEB is voluntary. This includes attendance of Executive Committee and Steering Committee meetings, Council meetings, Members meetings (and work associated with them), meetings and work associated with our special initiatives, attendance of congresses, and sponsorship of the flagship journal of the Society, Journal of Evolutionary Biology (JEB).
