Communication Activities: European Dance Event WORK-it-OUT: In EYCH 2018 ERIH has started a pan-European Dance event to attract young people to old industrial sites. The event named WORK-it-OUT took place from 2018 to 2022 (even during the pandemic). Thousands of kids and teenagers danced simultaneously at former industrial sites in numerous countries. ERIH is responsible for the overall coordination of the event and the marketing. A social media campaign accompanied the event and reached more than 3 million people aged between 14 and 45. The 7th edition of the event is planned for 8 September 2024. Exhibition “LINKING EUROPE”: ERIH produced a virutal exhibition that shows links of the industrialisation in different European countries. The link can be a machine, a tool, a human being, a building, an invention etc. The idea is to show the visitors the cross-border connections and influences of industrialisation and to raise awareness that industrialisation is a European phenomenon. Exhibits are also branded in the participating museums. Travelling exhibition “CHANGE WITH AN IMPACT”: ERIH has produced a travelling exhibition showing different regions in Europe like the Ruhr and the Saar in Germany, South Wales in the UK, the Netherlands, and Ore mining in Austria and how industrialisation has left its marks in these regions. There are two types of the exhibition (smaller and bigger) that are shown at ERIH member sites all over Europe. Brochure "European Industrial Heritage - The international story" Shows that industrial heritage is a common European legacy and presents the most important industrial heritage sites in Europe. European Heritage Academy ERIH offers lectures about European Industrial Heritage at universities all over Europe. In 2020 we started wit the University of Saarland, Germany, in 2021 we offered lectures to students at the University of Silesia, Poland. Currently we are seeking for new university contacts. The aim is to ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning. ERIH wants to raise the awareness of young people for the job and career opportunities in industrial heritage.
