Mission & Interests
Goals: The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) has delivered investigator driven, changing practice clinical trials since 1962. Its mission is to improve survival and quality of life of cancer patients. The EORTC is a not-for-profit independent organisation performing multidisciplinary clinical research activities across tumor types. The EORTC aims to improve the standard of cancer treatment through the testing of more effective therapeutic strategies based on drugs, surgery and/or radiotherapy that are already in use. EORTC’s activities involve on a voluntary basis more than 3000 medical doctors and scientists from some 800 university hospitals in 35 countries. EORTC clinical trials are involving several thousands of cancer patients on a yearly basis. The EORTC operates on an independent basis, and in this capacity is able to work in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry in evaluating innovative molecules.
