Mission & Interests

Goals: EHTEL: the European eHealth Stakeholder Platform EHTEL (the European Health Telematics Association) is a unique pan-European multidisciplinary stakeholder organisation, which brings together corporate, institutional, and individual actors dedicated to the improvement of healthcare delivery through digital health. EHTEL’s distinctive structure enables the exchange of ideas and information leading to innovation in the delivery of eHealth solutions and the transformation of health and social care. EHTEL facilitates interactions and sharing of knowledge among stakeholder groups. The association acts as a neutral forum, not as a lobbying group. EHTEL’s growing membership includes more than 50 organisations from all relevant stakeholder groups. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: EHTEL has the ambition to support EU initiatives, policies and legislative files aiming at fostering the deployment of eHealth, mHealth and other ICT-based innovative services aiming at contributing to the transformation of health care systems in Europe. EHTEL is a multi-stakeholder platform with members in each of the main stakeholder groups engaged in the deployment of these services: public authorities at regional or national level, implementation agencies, health insurers and other payers, patient representatives, health care delivery organisations, universities, ICT and pharma industry ... EHTEL is therefore not representing/defending the interest of a particular stakeholder group, but of all those who believes that ICT is an enabler for the modernisation of the health care systems to make them more efficient in their use of financial and human resources, better accessible and also more personalised to ensure quality care.
Communication Activities: EHTEL actively supports and contributes to strategic EU-funded or co-funded projects relevant to the deployment of eHealth services in health and social care. Over the last 24 years, EHTEL has been involved in more than 30 EU-funded projects, all related to the deployment of eHealth. EHTEL supports projects by connecting them to stakeholders outside the project, through its own network of implementers and shapers in eHealth. EHTEL ensures that there is an effective and solid exchange of information in projects by: • Creating project visibility and informing stakeholders about visions, lessons learned, and outcomes; • Engaging relevant stakeholders in interacting with the project (through EHTEL working groups and task forces, as well as standardisation organisations and professional associations) • Making the most of the professional, technical, scientific, and business expertise of EHTEL members by getting them involved in European projects; EHTEL also creates communication, dissemination, and engagement materials, producing regular news coverage and organising conferences, workshops and webinars. Overall, this commitment to project involvement provides significant results to EHTEL’s members and the eHealth and digital health and care communities as a whole. EU funded projects: topics of interest Projects innovate, share new experiences, develop new knowledge and make that new knowledge better accessible. EHTEL is focusing specifically on two important topics: • Digital transformation: EHTEL actively contributes to projects supporting digital solutions to better fit patients’ specific and special needs. It is essential to minimise the gap between the potential offered by digital technologies and their effective implementation in daily patient care. • Interoperability: EHTEL is interested in projects involving interoperability to facilitate the exchange of data among healthcare operators. In a world where – in all patient-carer interactions – a large amount of data is collected, good and effective management of this data is crucial for the future of healthcare.
