Mission & Interests
Goals: To provide the members with a forum through which to collaborate in order to facilitate an exchange of ideas and information about key international professional developments affecting the accounting and auditing professions in Europe. This forum, therefore, provides the context and resources for developing common positions on specific issues for submission to key professional stakeholders (e.g. EU, Accountancy Europe, CEAOB, OECD, IFAC, accounting standards-setters, national accounting institutes), in order to raise the middle tier of the accounting networks and association's position and influence in key professional developments.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Submissions and representations in relation to the Commission Green Papers and consultations on financial corporate and sustainability reporting, audit and assurance, corporate governance, taxation.
Communication Activities: Developing a series of position papers reflecting our members views on the transposition and implementation of the 2014 Statutory Audit Regulation and Directive and other relevant dossiers. Acting in the public interest.
Collecting our members views on the need for amendments to European level audit regulations and directives in recognition of the debate being launched by the European Commission in 2021 on this topic.
Collecting our members views with a view to engagement on the topic of Sustainable Reporting and encouraging our members to provide experts to work with EFRAG on the development of Sustainability Reporting Standards.
Joint development with Accountancy Europe and ECGI of submissions relating to the Simplified Prospectus and other proposals in the
Joint research with Accountancy Europe relating to the Corporate Governance Supply Chain Due Diligence initiative.
Joint development with Accountancy Europe and ECGI of an event to discuss the how the accountancy profession can assist with the combat of fraud and financial crime in business and the public and third sectors.
Presenting to CEAOB on the importance to our members of audit quality.
Responding with Accountancy Europe and ECGI to the OECD Consultation on the taxation of the digital economy
Involvement by attendance and/or speaking in events in the Parliament and elsewhere to discuss the choice and harmonisation of the many member state options provided for in the legislation and to explain our members views.

Organisation Members: The EGIAN is not a member of any other organisation, however all of our 15 members are themselves members of national organisations, principally the statutory audit institutes in their home countries. Some of them are members of the IFAC Forum of Firms
Senior staff of our member firms also participate in committee activities at the EU level in organisations such as Accountancy Europe.
