Mission & Interests
Goals: Founded in 1962, EFFAS federates 14 nationally based societies of investment professionals in Europe. Our main goals are:
Being a center for reflexion and think tank, encouraging the research and the independent opinion on Economy, Finance and Financial and Stock Markets with the ultimate goal of setting necessary standards for the finance industry.
Being a Working and Discussion Forum for qualified professionals and researchers in those fields and also with the economic and financial authorities in order to facilitate the modernisation and best knowledge of capital markets.
Being an International referent in Training and Professionals´ Qualifications, promoting the recognition among regulators and third parties of the EFFAS Diplomas. Ensuring professional development and continue training through seminars, conferences, professional meetings, etc.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: • MiFID II/MiFIR regulatory framework
• The Listing Act” that encompasses a comprehensive revision of the investment research regime under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MIFID II).
• The Non-Financial Reporting Directive (Directive 2014/95/EU, the “NFRD”) is an amendment to the Accounting Directive (Directive 2013/34/EU)
• Regulation (EU) 2019/2088 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on sustainability‐related disclosures in the financial services sector
• A proposal for a regulation on the establishment of a framework to facilitate sustainable investment. This regulation establishes the conditions and the framework to gradually create a unified classification system ('taxonomy') on what can be considered an environmentally sustainable economic activity. This is a first and essential step in the efforts to channel investments into sustainable activities.
• A proposal for a regulation amending the benchmark regulation. The proposed amendment will create a new category of benchmarks comprising low-carbon and positive carbon impact benchmarks, which will provide investors with better information on the carbon footprint of their investments.
