Goals: Our purpose is to advance knowledge and promote excellence in the care and welfare of animals in science and to enhance the standards and status of those professionally engaged in the care, welfare and use of animals in science. We continually strive to advance and promote excellence in technology and the practice of laboratory animal care and welfare through advice, guidance and initiatives.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: EU Directive - Technical Expert Group for the implementation of the Directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. Our organisation accredits training courses for animal technologists and animal care personnel. These courses are recognised throughout Europe by Ofqual and are transferable. We also hold an annual international conference for animal technologists and throughout the year run many courses for CPD.
Communication Activities: We publish a scientific journal three times a year. IAT/EFAT Animal Technology & Welfare journal. Copies of this journal are distributed worldwide and are Open Access.
