Mission & Interests
Goals: ECSA’s main aim is to defend and promote the rights and interests of composers and songwriters at national, European and international level. Alliance's goals include:
- reinforce the perception of cultural and economic value of music in Europe and the world;
- encourage European and international policy makers and regulators to support the creation of new and diverse music;
- support the principle and development of authors’ rights, copyright and fair remuneration and defend the collective management of authors’ rights;
- improve inclusiveness and diversity, including the conditions and advancement of women composers and songwriters in the music industry;
- support policies for a more sustainable music sector and measures to reduce the environmental impact of music industry practices;
- support fair conditions for all composers and songwriters and encourage the adoption of “codes of conduct” of conduct” to ensure social and economic development of music creation in Europe.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Main EU initiatives followed by ECSA are developments on authors' rights/copyright as well as policy related to culture and more specifically music sector related policy. ECSA remains active in stakeholder consultations and professional meetings organized by the European Commission (DG Connect, DG EAC) and in the European Parliament (CULT, JURI and IMCO parliamentary committees). ECSA has been very much involved on the EU 2019 DSM Directive and on all discussions for the fair remuneration for creators.
