Communication Activities: ECRN had a unique opportunity to share its work achievements and planned actions with a wide range of Polish stakeholders representing the chemical sector during the Polish Circular Forum on the 14-15 of June 2022. This two-day high-level conference gathered industry representatives, policymakers, and academics working at the Polish and EU levels.
On 10 May, ECRN participated as a speaker in the 5th edition of the Just Transition Platform Meeting – Coal Regions in Transition virtual week and Carbon-intensive regions seminars. This three-day conference (10-12 May) presented the activities developed by the JTP to support a just transition in coal, peat, oil shale and carbon-intensive regions across the EU.
On 17 May 2022, in the framework of the European Vocational Skills Week 2022, the European Chemical Regions Network organized the hybrid conference “How to bridge the skills gap to enable the green and digital transformation of the chemical industry”.
The event focused on the role of skills and education in making the European chemical industry ready for the green and digital transitions, competitive at the global level, and resilient to market disruptions. It also touched on the importance of domestic production of key materials and products, such as basic chemicals, to address EU strategic dependencies.
On 20th April 2022, ECRN organized a virtual conference “Waste as a feedstock for the circular economy – challenges and opportunities for the chemical industry”. The event was combined with the launch of the ECRN position paper on waste management and shipment, which was our contribution to the public consultation on the Environmental impact of waste management – revision of the EU waste framework.
