Goals: Cefic is a not-for-profit making organisation devoted to promote a thriving European Chemical Industry that is broadly recognised to provide sustainable, safe, innovative and resource efficient solutions to foster prosperity, growth and investments in Europe and meet the challenges for future generations. Our main purpose is to serve the Members and the European chemical industry by generating and aggregating scientific knowledge, to contribute to the development of the industry by providing support to all its Members. In view of supporting this main purpose, Cefic may (i) engage, represent and advocate in a focussed and effective manner the interests of its Members and the industry at a European level by creating the appropriate support and policy frameworks for said industry in Europe and beyond as well as (ii) develop, promote and defend common industry positions.

There are currently around 70 Cefic Sector groups.

Complementary Information: In light of the scope of activities covered by the Transparency Register and the financial information required in Annex II of the Inter-Institutional Agreement (OJ L 107/10, 11.6.2021), Cefic estimates its costs for the representation of the interests of the Association vis-à-vis the EU Institutions at 10.7 M€.
In 2023, the total budget of Cefic amounted to 43.6 M€. That amount comprises roughly 23.2 M € for management of horizontal programs and 20.4 M € for management of Cefic Sector Groups.
Cefic total staff amounts to about 169 persons.
