Goals: The goals of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 are:
- enhance the cultural richness and diversity in Tartu and its region, Southern Estonia, by promoting arts, culture, and heritage
- develop a rich cultural programme of public events and activities in Tartu and Southern Estonia with a focus on highlighting the local culture and with a strong European dimension
- facilitate cross-cultural exchange, cooperation, and collaboration between cultural institutions and individual artists from Tartu and other cities across the European Union
- contribute to the educational and engagement projects for youth and adults
- develop the legacy programme of cultural projects and initiatives that will contribute to the long-term impact

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: The main activities include culture and arts, that are a part of the main activities of the European Capital of Culture Foundation and that are described in its respective programme. The activities of the foundation in general are focused on culture, international cooperation in culture, as well as sustainability and availability of the cultural projects and events that are a part of the cultural programme.
At the European Parliament the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 is co-hosting the European Capitals of Culture 2024 Programmes presentation (press-conference) for the members of the EU Parliament, journalists and interested parties.
Communication Activities: During the European Capitals of Culture Programmes presentation at the European Parliament, the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 will arrange interviews with the participants of the event with the following publications in local (Estonian) and international media.
