Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: EBCR complements the EU work on visibility and communication of support to private sector development notably through the promotion of the European External Investment Plan (EIP), the European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD & EFSD+), blending facilities and other re-risking facilities, the actions and projects implemented by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the National Indicative Programme (NIP).
As regards the current NIP under the 11th EDF, two projects support private sector development and job creation programme. The private sector development and job creation programme address Rwanda’s needs to create employment opportunities for its youth.
Activities will focus on two sub-sectors, namely the digital economy and tourism hospitality,
which have the potential for rapid, sustainable private sector growth and job creation. The programme strives to ensure equal access for all to the new opportunities in these sectors .
The programme is implemented through two projects:
1. Market Skills4Tourism, implemented by Rwanda Polytechnic in collaboration with the Tourism Chamber from the Private Sector Federation (PSF), the Skills Office from Rwanda Development Board and Workforce Development Authority, and
2. The Tech Innovation/Incubation Hubs project, implemented by Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) in collaboration with the ICT chamber from the Private sector Federation (PSF).
EBCR supports also in more general terms the EU to increase the visibility of its Private Sector Support, through the dissemination of information to its membership, or the organisation of dedicated events to showcase the different instruments available to support the private sector (e.g. EU EIP, EFSD,
EFSD+ Blending facilities, etc.)
Communication Activities: EBCR organises every month a networking event with a speaker on a subject of specific interest for its members.
Besides they publish a quarterly newsletter and some policy briefs as well as a starters-kit with all relevant information for European companies which want to start doing business in Rwand.
