Mission & Interests
Goals: The EBB is a registered Not for Profit organisation which is made up of supporters adhering to a policy manifesto to promote the circular bioeconomy in EU policies.
Supporters include academics, businesses and associations who share the common vision of the EBB Manifesto which was developed by the European Circular Bioeconomy Policy Initiative in 2021.
The specific aims of the EBB are to ensure that EU policy development recognises the role bio-based and biodegradable materials have to play in enhancing environmental protection and economic development as well as promoting soil health and the recovery of organic wastes.
The EBB will focus on two main areas of policies relating to agriculture and to circular economy and will operate through knowledge sharing, communications programmes and legislative proposals.
The EBB also intends to participate in EU funding grants for research into the development of the bioeconomy.

Communication Activities: The EBB started its activities as the ECBPI in February 2021
On December 7th 2022 the ECBPI presented in the European Parliament a report called Unwrapping the Biowaste Potential.
In February 2023 the EBB was formally registered as a non for profit entity in Belgium. It has now substituted the ECBPI.
The EBB has not engaged in policy outreach activities in 2023 but has engaged in research activities.
