Mission & Interests
Goals: The European Biodiesel Board also known as EBB, is a non-profit organisation established in January 1997. EBB aims to promote the use of biodiesel in the European Union, at the same time, grouping the major EU biodiesel producers.
To achieve its aims, EBB:
- represents its members to the institutions of the European Union and other international organizations
- promotes scientific, technological, economic, legal and research activities
- collects, analyses and disseminates information
- studies problems confronted by the biodiesel industry and suggests solutions at economic, political, legal, institutional and technical levels.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: • ILUC (RED and FQD) – core business
• The 2020 climate and energy package, including:
o European Energy Security Strategy
• Animal feed – EU regulation and safety monitoring

o Waste hierarchy,
o State Aid to biofuels sector

Renewable energy is a key concern for all levels of EU authority.
EBB actively endeavoured to make the voice of the biodiesel industry heard in the discussion regarding the framework for post-2020 policies
Communication Activities: EBB projects:
• RBO – Register of Biofuels Origination – a certification tool for the advanced biofuels generated from waste feedstock. This industry-led initiative is expected to be highly beneficial to raise the reputation and credibility of European produced advanced biodiesel both within the EU and abroad.

On the side of international activities, EBB has continued to successfully defend our members against the recurrence of the dumping and countervailing duties imposed on biodiesel imports from selected third countries (United States, Argentina and Indonesia).
