EACS is more active in health and policy work through standards of care, and capacity-building activities. We have been investigating activities of the European Commission where our clinicians and members could participate and contribute to improving HIV/AIDS and co-infections medical care, education and research at an EU/EEA level.
Communication Activities: Educational programme
The organisation of capacity-building courses for clinicians/researchers working in managing HIV and co-infections, standards of care and Education.
EACS organises the biennial Standard of Care for HIV & Co-infections in Europe meeting.
YING - Young Investigators Network
The European Young Investigators aims to foster deeper and more frequent exchanges among young HIV experts across Europe.
WAVE - Women Against Viruses in Europe
WAVE focuses on how to address the gaps that have been identified in women living with HIV care. The group provides expert-level opinions whenever there are gaps in evidence in the EACS Guidelines and promotes research in prioritised directions.
Core curriculum
The EACS Educational programmes follow a standardised core curriculum to provide all trainees with consistent levels of education and training.
Management of HIV and Co-infections online course
This course provides high-quality training on clinical management of HIV to clinicians through a flexible and resource-saving online learning model. The course is divided into 4 sections, including a Public Health section.
Medical Exchange Programme
The Medical Exchange Programme was initiated in 2001 to enhance the clinical skills of fellows through periods of attachment to specialised HIV units. The ambition is to foster clinical and scientific collaboration across Europe. This programme offers a Short Clinical Exchange Programme and a Career Development Fellowship.
HIV Summer School,
This 5-day residential course is designed for clinicians involved in HIV management who wish to deepen their knowledge about all aspects of HIV medicine and research methodology.
European Diploma in HIV Medicine exam
EACS is developing an exam to help bridge the gaps in HIV treatment and prevention. This is to ensure that healthcare professionals across Europe have a standardised level of knowledge and expertise in HIV treatment, care, and prevention.

Events
The biennial European AIDS Conference aims to promote excellence in standards of care and serves as a focal point for exchanging the latest research and clinical developments in HIV prevention and treatment.
Standard of Care for HIV and Co-infections in Europe
The biennial meeting is a one-and-a-half-day meeting with plenaries and workshops. The goal is to collect and diffuse data on standards of care including the progress and pitfalls in different European regions, and to provide a platform and share these data among different stakeholders. This project involves clinicians, civil society, and public health institutions.
EACS Live! Online events
The Journal Club is a monthly discussion on a recent topical paper or clinical cases together with young investigators and experts.

Publications:
The European Guidelines for the management of people living with HIV in Europe. The English version is regularly updated by the guidelines panels with major revisions every other year and minor revisions in the years in between. Guidelines are published in the autumn and translated into additional languages.

EACS Standard of Care Audit: Hepatitis B and C screening and management in people living with HIV (re-audit). The pilot audit was adapted to geographical or regional differences in the management of Hepatitis for people living with HIV and re-audited.
