Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Europe Air Sports is regulated mainly by the EASA Basic Regulation. As an organisation representing private air space users, the implementing rules and AMC developed by EASA and adopted in Comitology directly affect operations. This includes rules on pilot licensing, aircraft maintenance and operations. Access to airspace is a another important matter. Here, our work currently focuses on the the integration of drones into airspace commonly used by manned aviation. This concept is referred to as U-Space Airspace. Further improving the environmental performance of the sector is another objective and addressed by the European Green Deal and derived legislation.
Communication Activities: EAS publishes a newsletter that is available on the website.

Info Members: EAS is run mainly by volunteers with the exception of the EU policy adviser and the Programme Manager. The EU policy adviser spends approximately one day a week on matters concerning EAS.The Programme manager spends on average less than one day a week on EAS matters but deals only with technical issues arising at the level of EASA. The President and Board Members are all volunteers. They are on a completely flexible work schedule and occasionally travel to Brussels in order to meet Commission and EP officials. On average this might take place twice a year, but only in small groups not typically exceeding 5 EAS representatives.
