Mission & Interests

Goals: The College of Europe Bruges was the first post-graduate institution entirely devoted to European affairs, with the main aim of contributing to the furthering of European integration. The CoEB has been over the past 73 years at the forefront of educating with more than 17.000 students graduated in European affairs. Every year the CoEB brings together approximately 340 students representing around 50 different nationalities. The CoEB delivers five Advanced Master programmes in European affairs. The courses are taught in English and French by more than 300 professors, who come either from renowned universities or are practitioners in the public or private sector. The CoEB with its unique “College formula” ensures that, students from all social backgrounds, not only study together, but also live together, in a challenging and highly stimulating multicultural environment which prepares them to live and work in an increasingly integrated European and interdependent world.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: EU Policy: Education – Higher education in the EU. Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing “Erasmus”: the Union programme for education, training, youth and sport and repealing Regulation (EU) No 1288/2013 (COM(2018)0367 – C8-0233/2018 – 2018/0191(COD)).
Communication Activities: The communication strategy of the College of Europe Bruges aims at communicating to the wider world on the activities of the College and to use these activities to inform the wider debate on EU integration issues. The communication strategy is structured as follows: 1) Media activities; 2) Social Media activities; 3) Marketing activities; 4) Events and debates and 5) Communication online. With the purpose of contributing to the purpose of communication the EU and its policies, the College undertakes the following initiatives: (a) Initiatives of the Rector visiting or hosting high-level authorities from different countries; (b) Organisation of events with prominent speakers; including a large number of events each year (face-to-face and online) organised on EU-related issues (including and focusing on current EU priorities); special attention deserves the Opening and Closing ceremonies of each academic year, where high-level personalities are invited to deliver an opening and/or closing speech. In addition, professors and staff of the College give presentation sessions of the College in academic institutions and other instances and met representatives as ambassadors, members of permanent representations, etc. The College of Europe's academic publications are another means of communicating our activities in the fields of research and advocacy covering all EU-related issues. In terms of visibility and dissemination, the communication of the College relies on various tools to distribute information on activities and results: (1) College of Europe official Website; (2) College of Europe social media official accounts; (3) College of Europe marketing materials; (4) College of Europe E-Newsletter & E-Newsflashes and (5) College of Europe Podcasts, Blogs, etc.
