Mission & Interests
Goals: A platform for the collaboration of associations, citizens and politicians working together for the celebration of World Down's syndrome Day, to make visible the intellectual disability in general and persons with Trisomy 21 in particular (most common intellectual disability of genetic origin, also called Down Syndrome).
We have four missions:
- Visibility: People with disabilities are not present in the political environment, are not present in the labour market neither in the media. If people with disabilities are not visible in the society, it’s impossible to create the necessary changes.
- Health: The European Union must act in the best interest of people with intellectual disabilities to ensure their right to a “a high level of human health protection” as established by the Charter of fundamental rights of the European Union.

Communication Activities: - The Future is Ours: EU sponsored project consisting of three online and one in-Person event between now and July 2023. With the EU elections coming up on 2024, and many people with Down Syndrome being allowed to vote in them for the first time, we want to take our time to highlight the four goals of EU for Trisomy 21: Autonomy, Visibility, Health and Equal Treatment.
- World Down Syndrome Day celebration in the European Parliament 2023: on the 20th and 21st of March, inclusive coffee shops and restaurants who have employees with Down Syndrome were serving coffee in places of political power such as the European Parliament (Forum bar), national governments, senates and parliaments, regional assemblies, and municipalities.

Complementary Information: Bundesverband Down Syndrome Donation was given to Eu for Trisomy 21 as we contributed to the coordination of the activities of an European CERV project.
Officially, this money should appear as European funds, but it came to our bank account from our German partner.

Info Members: The president of EU for Trisomy 21 is not a remunerated mandate, but he represents the organization in the European Institutions.
We encourage people with Down syndrome and their parents to become self-advocate and to meet with members of the European Parliament to defend their rights. They are voluntary self-advocates, non-remunerated.

Is Member Of: We have many partners in all member states working in the promotion of people with Down Syndrome Rights in their countries, but we don't have yet an official status of member of Eu for Trisomy 21.
