Mission & Interests
Goals: The mission of the EU-ABC is to:
Advocate for European business interests in the ASEAN region;
Push for the reduction and eventual elimination of barriers to trade (both tariffs and NTBs);
Facilitate trade and investment between Europe and ASEAN;
Collaborate and interact with the ASEAN Secretariat and other related bodies;
Contribute to and promote pan-ASEAN economic integration;
Support the establishment of an EU-ASEAN free trade agreement, and FTAs between the EU and ASEAN Member States in the meantime; and,
Work to support other areas of key policy interest to advance EU-ASEAN relations including, but not limited to, sustainable development, energy transition and the greening of supply chains, digital economy, harmonisation of standards etc.

Communication Activities: The EU-ABC produces regular position papers on a range of topics covering the areas that its members have interest in, including all of those listed above. It also produces an annual EU-ASEAN Business Sentiment Survey. All papers are shared with interested stakeholders in EU institutions. For 2021 we also curated a series of essays on EU-ASEAN relations with contributors including EVP Dombrovskis, EU Ambassador to ASEAN, and Daniel Caspery MEP.
