Mission & Interests
Goals: EnergyTag is a global, industry-lead non-profit initiative that seeks to define the world's first voluntary standard for Granular Energy Attribute Certificates (GCs) that enable 24/7 carbon-free energy choice for consumers. GCs are, in our view, a key tool for increasing consumer transparency for electricity origin disclosure and for creating a market signal for deep decarbonisation of the world's electricity grids.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: In line with our mission, EnergyTag wishes to ensure that Policy makers are aware of the advances we are working on in to bring more precise and transparent energy attribution mechanisms and carbon acccounting to ensure better green claims and investment signals in clean electricity.
In the EU perspective, EnergyTag is focused on future amendments to the Renewable Energy Directive ("Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources", https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32018L2001&from=EN)
And in particular the potential amendment of Article 19 "Guarantees of origin for energy from renewable sources" to facilitate electricity disclosure of more temporal granularity.
EnergyTag is also interested in a number of other areas where a more robust carbon accounting and green certification mechanisms can better serve the EU climate policy objectives:
1. Carbon-border adjustment mechanism (CBAM)
2. Low-carbon hydrogen definitions
3. Green Claims Directive
4. Corporate sustainability reporting directive (CSRD)
5. Electricity Market Directive (EMD)
