Mission & Interests
Goals: The Energy Storage Coalition aims at accelerating the decarbonisation of the European energy system by increasing the deployment of sustainable and clean energy storage solutions to support renewables. It will do so by fulfilling the following objectives:
• Raise awareness about the services provided by energy storage.
• Identify barriers to the efficient deployment of renewables coupled with energy storage.
• Advocate for a financial, legal and political framework able to support the deployment of energy storage.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Electricity Market Design, Net Zero Industry Act, European Green Deal, European Commission Recommendation on Energy Storage.
Communication Activities: The Energy Storage Coalition has completed one communications campaign “Energy Security needs Energy Storage”. The campaign was developed to stress the importance of energy storage, not only for the achievement of energy security, but also for the fulfilment of the energy targets and a reduction of citizens’ energy bills.

The Coalition has organised a session at EUSEW 2024 on the crucial role and needs of energy storage in the energy transition to achieve energy independence, reducing costs, and meeting ambitious renewable energy targets.
The Coalition has worked on the reform of the Electricity Market Design regulations and the publication of national energy and climate plans.
ESC has and will organise more events to raise awareness on energy storage.
