Goals: EDHEC Business School, founded in Lille, France in 1906, is an independent, not-for-profit higher educational institution delivering state-recognised degrees. First accredited by EQUIS in 1999, the school holds the three foremost international accreditations for management education - EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA. Nationally, it is HCERES accredited for the quality of its research and also holds the EESPIG label for service to the public good. EDHEC’s ambition is to serve future generations through education and research. It has a full-range academic portfolio, delivers professional training plus custom and open-enrolment courses for executives in face-to-face, blended and fully online formats. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Erasmus initiatives: - Family Business Centre is contributing to an Erasmus+ funded project aimed at developing micro-learning resources for family business succession planning. Titled " Small steps to bigger success – developing knowledge/capacity building program for entrepreneurs to foster – through microlearning - better and more successful succession in the family business" the project started in 2022. It involves a KA2 collaborative partnership between five European institutions and is scheduled to run until 2024. - Family Business Centre has initiated a new project focusing on 'Diversity, Inclusion, Green Practices, and Sustainability for Family Enterprises.' This thematic area is linked to an EU pedagogical innovation grant project application under the Erasmus+ Call KA220-HED. The consortium submitted the grant application in March 2024. - EDHEC is a member of a consortium consisting of four other institutions collaborating on a project titled "Fostering Employability Skills for Sustainable Fashion" (https://sfes.eu/). This project started in 2020 and concluded with the publication of a whitepaper and toolkit in August 2023. - Foresight, Innovation, and Transformation Chair initiated the Strategic Foresight for Sustainability (SF4S) Erasmus+ funded research project last year. SF4S is a collaborative effort involving partners from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, innovation networks, and business entities within the Agri-food, Health, and Mobility sectors. - Augmented Law Institute is contributing to an Erasmus+ funded project named DEO4PA (Digital Ethics Officer for Public Agents), under the KA220-VET call for cooperation partnerships in vocational education and training. This collaborative partnership involves six European institutions, led by the Italian Ministero dell’Economica e delle Finanze. - Prof. T. Long, Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Operations Faculty, is leading a new project on 'Future-oriented Entrepreneurship Education within a Post-growth Society.' This project is linked to an EU pedagogical innovation grant project application under the Erasmus+ Call KA220-HED. The consortium, comprising four European institutions, submitted the grant application in March 2024. Horizon initiatives: - Prof. M. Benmerikhi, Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Operations Faculty, is part of a consortium working on a Horizon-funded research project called SAFARI (HORIZON-CL5-2023-D6-01). This project, scheduled to start in May 2024, aims to develop a generic digital platform for resilient port infrastructure. - Prof. Wim Vandekerckhove, Management & Humanities Faculty, is involved in a consortium consisting of three European partners, with EDHEC as the Coordinator. The project, funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency through the CERV grant call CERV-2023-CHAR-LITI-WHISTEL, is named BRIGHT (Building Resilience through Integrity, Good Governance, and Honesty Training). It started in March 2024 and is slated to run for two years. EU Competition Law– Guidelines on exclusionary abuses by dominant undertakings -Prof. Law Dr. Anne C. Witt, EDHEC Augmented Law Institute, has offered comments on the European Commission's initiative to issue guidelines regarding the application of Article 102 TFEU.
Communication Activities: Whistle-blowing: Professor of Business Ethics Dr. Wim Vandekerckhove co-facilitated an online workshop on whistleblower protection for the Council of Europe, South Programme, on May 3rd and 4th, 2023. The workshop included participants from anti-corruption bodies in Morocco, Jordan, Tunisia, and Palestine. EU competition law, EU internal market law, EU platform regulation: Professor of Law Anne-Christine Witt, affiliated with the EDHEC Augmented Law Institute, published an article in the Common Market Law Review titled "The Digital Markets Act – Regulating the Wild West" (2023) 60(3) Common Market Law Review 625 - 666. Prof. Anne-Christine Witt also participated in several conference presentations on EU developments: - "Legal Presumptions Under Article 102 TFEU – Putting the Genie Back Into The Bottle?" - Invited presentation at the 2023 BECCLE Competition Policy Conference, University of Bergen, Norway, June 2nd, 2023. - "The European Union’s Digital Markets Act — Regulating The Wild West" - Invited presentation at the 2023 Korea Competition Law Association International Conference, Digital Competition Law From Comparative Perspectives, Seoul, South Korea, June 23rd, 2023. - "Art 102 TFEU & Exclusionary Conduct – The Reform" - Panel discussion on August 1st, 2023, Digital Markets Research Hub (available on YouTube). - Online panel discussion, "The DMA is here: a GDPR 2.0 for fairer digital markets?" - Brussels Privacy Hub, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, October 12th, 2023. Family Business Succession: Prof. Rania Labaki participated in an "SME transfer of ownership encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit" roundtable presentation and discussion at the Renew Europe Business Days. The event featured Arantxa Tapia Otaegi, Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability, and the Environment of the Basque Country, Spain, Matthieu Leclercq, former chairman of Decathlon, France, and Nader Laalinia, CEO of Finstansteknik, Sweden. The discussion was moderated by Abir Al-Sahlani, Renew Europe VP, European Parliament, Brussels, Belgium, on June 8th, 2023. Prof. Rania Labaki also participated in a presentation titled "Reflections on Business Transfers in Europe: What’s next?" at a meeting co-organized by European Family Businesses and the SME Intergroup in the European Parliament in cooperation with the Employers Group of the European Economic and Social Committee, European Parliament, Brussels, Belgium, on February 28, 2023. Strategic Foresight for Sustainability: The EDHEC Foresight, Innovation, and Transformation Chair organized an online conference in March 2023 on the SF4S Erasmus+ funded project titled "SF4S - Strategic Foresight for Sustainability: Supporting our transition to a more sustainable European economy" during a consortium meeting in Turku at The Finland Futures Research Centre. Another conference was held in November 2023 during a consortium meeting in Berlin, HMKW.
