Mission & Interests
Goals: In a thriving democracy, people can form and contest ideas online, free from exploitation, manipulation, discrimination, and harassment. Yet the spread of mis- and dis-information online shows the risks that the current design and governance of the online information ecosystem can pose to the health of individuals, society, and democracy.
Digital Action’s contribution is to unlock civil society collaboration so it builds shared ideas and collective strength that transform the digital world. We also have a particular focus on the global equity crisis in tech accountability, whereby weak global governance rules as well as poor safeguarding by social media platforms allow the largely unrestricted flow of disinformation, hate speech and abuse in many parts of the world. We seek solutions to this crisis, through building connections between civil society, policymakers and stakeholders in the EU and other major regions.
