We aim to make the Democracy & Culture Foundation the leading global platform for dialogue and solution-oriented activities concerning: The evolution of democracy, civil society, and the media The role of culture as an expression of freedom and individuality in allowing democracy to flourish The Foundation leverages the intellect of original thinkers and powerful decision-makers to identify critical issues on democracy’s evolutionary path, subjects them to intense debate at all societal levels, turns them into specific policy proposals, and works toward their implementation.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The main EU initiative targeted is the Conference on the Future of Europe. European Democracy Action Plan European Capital of Democracy Initiative Youth Guarantee EU strategy on the rights of the child We are working with EU, Council of Europe and City of Athens (as an incubation lab) to scope out a number of projects coming out of our annual Athens Democracy Forum. There are 7 broad projects we are working on: 1) reforming municipal governance and engaging citizens in this process 2) regeneration of downtrodden part of the city 3) coordination between civil society projects/institutions and local government 4) youth festival to look into technology and democracy 5) migration 6) climate 7) the nexus of democracy and culture
