Mission & Interests

Goals: The Regenboog Group (RG) is an Amsterdam based NGO, which provides low threshold and harm reduction services to drug users, homeless people and people with mental health problems. The main aim of the organisation is to reduce social isolation and to support the participation of marginalised groups in society. More specifically this includes: - Low threshold and harm reduction services, such as day and night shelter, Drug Consumption Rooms, needle exchange programme. - Psycho-social support and counselling: the RG cooperates with a broad network of organisations in Amsterdam to provide support where needed. - Work integration: the RG runs different work programmes, which support the (re)integration of marginalised groups in the labour market. - Informal care and buddy support: a dedicated group of volunteers and professionals supports marginalised groups in managing their daily life (also includes debt assistance). Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: - The RG hosts and coordinates Correlation-European Harm Reduction Network with more than 300 member organizations and individuals throughout Europe; www.correlation-net.org - The RG is part of the core group of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD) and the EU Civil Society Forum on HIV/Aids, HCV and TB. oth fora are expert groups of the EC. In this capacity the RG contributes actively to relevant EU policy documents and developments in the area of drugs, HIV/Aids and HCV. - The RG is the coordinator of the CSFD Project, which provides secretareial and operational capacities to the CSFD - The RG was involved in the evaluation of the EU Drug Programme, carried out by DG Justice. - The RG contributed to the development of the EU Drug Agenda 2020 - The RG contributes to the development of the EU Drug Action Plan Europe 2020 strategy:The RG/C-EHRN is dedicated to the topics of poverty and social exclusion and aims to increase employment among marginalsed groups. This applies in particular to the flagship initiatives of the Europe 2020 strategy, including the Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion and the Agenda for New Skills and Jobs.
Communication Activities: The RG coordinates and participates in various European projects and initiatives: C-EHRN hosts and coordinates Correlation-European Harm Reduction Network with more than 300 member organizations and individuals throughout Europe; www.correlation-net.org; In this framework the organization carries out different networking, monitoring and research, capacity building, advocacy and communication activities, addressing Harm reduction, Drug Policy, Health, homelessness, HIV/Aids, HCV, and mental health. Correlation - European Harm Reduction Network (C-EHRN): The RG established C-EHRN in 2004. The network aims to improve the access to and the quality of harm reduction services for People Who Use Drugs, including other related vulnerable and marginalised people and to enhance policies and practices that increase social inclusion. C-EHRN is granted with a Framework Partnership Agreement in the Health Programme, which will be implemented from 2018-2021. The activities of C-EHRN are currently focusing on the development and implementation of a monitoring system for HR services, capacity building and advocacy. www.correlation-net.org Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD): The RG is a member of the expert group on Drugs for the European Commission - the CSFD. The RG coordinated working group 3 of the CSFD and is part of the CSFD core group. As such the RG participates in the CSFD Project consortium. http://www.civilsocietyforumondrugs.eu Civil Society Forum on HIV/Aids, HCV and TB (CSFAHT): The RG is member of the CSFAHT and part of its core group. Hepatitis C Initiative: The RG coordinates the European Hepatitis C and Drug Use initiative, which brings together more than 30 organisations – networks, grass root organisations, NGO's, health institutes and universities. The aim of the Hep C Initiative is, to contribute to the improvement of knowledge and capacities and to create synergy in order to rise awareness on the issue. A Manifesto with recommendations was presented at the European Parliament and sent to all governments in WHO Europe. www.hepatitis-c-initiative.eu BOOST Project - The RG coordinated the Project (EU4Health Programme), which aims to support and strengthen community-based and community-led organisations in providing communicable diseases services as part of comprehensive, people-centred harm reduction strategies. https://community-boost.eu/ Core Project - The RG participates in the Project (EU4Health), which ims to reduce inequalities in the HIV, TB and viral hepatitis responses by promoting, strengthening and integrating the community responses that have proven key in reaching communities traditionally underserved by mainstream prevention and healthcare services. FENIQS Project : aims to enhance the implementation of the Quality Standards in drug demand reduction in the EU Drug Prep Project: aims to support foresight research to improve impact of drug policy interventions SEMID Project: aims to improve interventions for migrant drug users In addition RG/C-EHRN organised different conferences and policy events, such as the Hepatitis Community Summit, two events which took place at the European Parliament and different kind of national and European training events.
