Mission & Interests

Goals: Promote the transition of the government of the Republic of Cuba from Marxist totalitarian dictatorship to a Western representative democracy, through legal means, including promoting and supporting the exercise of civil liberties theoretically guaranteed and protected by the nation's current Constitution, including, without limitation, supporting morally and financially, the struggle of Cuba's Civil Society to establish: (1) the primacy of individual liberty and responsibility as the foundation of Cuba's future Common Good; (2) the protection of private property, as essential to the full enjoyment of liberty and in dividual responsibility by the governed; (3) the Rule of Law subject to a constitution which protects the inalienable rights sanctified by the best of western tradition; and (4) a free market, open to competition, without the price controls, as the most effective way to create wealth, provide for the common welfare and conduct commercial transactions.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: -P9_TA(2019)0021 "Importance of European remembrance for the Future of Europe" -P9_TA(2021)0292 "Human Rights and Political Situation in Cuba" -P9_TA(2021)0389 "Government Crackdown on Protests and Citizens in Cuba" -P9_TA(2021)0510 "The situation in Cuba, namely the cases of José Daniel Ferrer, Lady in White Aymara Nieto, Maykel Castillo, Luis Robles, Félix Navarro, Luis Manuel Otero, Reverend Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo, Andy Dunier García and Yunior García Aguilera" Our primary objective is to influence the full implementation of the Cooperation Political Dialogue Agreement between the EU and its Member States on the one hand and the Republic of Cuba on the other (ADPC), as published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 13.12 .2016 (L 337 I/3). CUBA DEMANDA INC is an organization mostly composed of Cubans with dual citizenship, who are residing in Cuba, Spain, the United States, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, and even Cape Verde, with a growing number of followers, collaborators and activists throughout Europe. It has prepared and continuously provides the relevant forms for filing complaints, denunciations and reasonable grounds before the Foreign Action Committee on how the single political party in Cuba prevents the development of free enterprise and the exercise of fundamental freedoms, while receiving unconditional support by the European Union through the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (2016). Since the Transatlantic Parliamentary Forum in Miami (November 20, 2021), CUBA DEMANDA INC has established a productive relationship with Spanish MEP Hermann Terstch and members of the Congress of Deputies of Spain. CUBA DEMANDA INC has been also developing a closer relationship with the Czech Republic through Ambassador Martin Palouš and MEP Dita Charanzová, and it has planned working meetings with PM Petr Fiala. Similar meetings are foreseen in our agenda with government officials in Italy and France. CUBA DEMANDA INC has met and intends to keep on meeting with members of the European Parliament and lawmakers of European Union countries for seeking consensus on how to approach the Cuban question according to the governing principles of the European External Action Service. The main purpose is exerting influence in order to change the European Union position regarding the communist regime in Cuba as a “one-party democracy.” Our President, Teresa Ortiz, JD, and Vice President Santiago A. Alpizar, Esq., are also actively participating in the European Commission Public Consultation concerning European security facing Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. Vice President Alpizar is working with the Spanish Consulate in Miami on migratory issues implicating security concerns in Europe. And our rank member Arnaldo M. Fernandez is serving as a consultant for the US Department of State in the field of Cuban Labor Law.
Communication Activities: Cuba Demanda Inc has participated in conferences and symposiums organized by the former Vice President of European Parliament Pavel Telicka. Cuba Demanda Inc. has collaborated with former Vice President of European Parliament Fabio Massimo Casltado working together with Rosa Maria Paya, the leader of Cuba Decide. Cuba Demanda Inc.’s Vice President Santiago A Alpizar Esq., participated in a panel discussion with current Vice President of European Parliament Dita Charanzova during the Forum 2000- year 2021 edition in Prague. Cuba Demanda Inc is one the consulting organizations on Cuban issues and Cuban law frequently asked for collaboration from several institutions including Vaclav Havel Library Foundation. Cuba Demanda Inc., has an especially advisory collaboration with renown Ambassador Martin Palous. Ambassador Palous have invited Cuba Demanda Inc.’s members to write papers concerning Cuba's current situation now part of the academic curriculum of Florida International University. Ambassador Palous and Cuba Demanda Inc., has collaborated in developing a network of institutions interested in changes within the present governance structure in Cuba. Cuba Demanda Inc. prepares policies and position papers, communications on behalf of our members and collaborators based in Europe and in U.S. Cuba Demanda Inc., works closely with different organizations, institutions and individuals lobbying before European governmental entities in support of democracy changes in Cuba. Cuba Demanda Inc., has been a prominent participant in the First Summit of Free Cubans in Europe (Brussels 2022), the Global Direct Democracy forum in Switzerland in 2022, and in the Free Cubans Forum held in Rome on January 2023. It is also participating with the Italian group Democrazia e Libertà in the distribution of flyers to members of the European Parliament with information via QR on the totalitarian State in Cuba, and actively taking part with the European Dialogue in its online platform after meeting his chairman in Switzerland during the Global Direct Democracy Forum (October 2022). Cuba Demanda Inc has condemned before the United Nations the cruelty and severity of punishments that the regime of Cuba is undertaking against political prisoners and against those that disapprove totalitarianism and communism. Moreover, Cuba Demanda Inc has sent to United Nations several cases where human right abuses have been committed against pacific protesters mainly those that participated in the uprising of July 11, 2021. Cuba Demanda Inc is committed to work with EU to achieve main EU legislation or policies that will result in support to those countries undergoing human right abuses and will also support other policies heading towards the EU's objectives in the region. In 2023-2024, Cuba Demanda Inc.'s activities in the European Parliament demand a multifaceted approach to addressing the situation in Cuba and promoting human rights in the region. Here's a summary of the highlighted activities: Meetings with political representatives: The organization met with various MEPs and political representatives, including Dita Charanzovà, Carlo Fidanza, Mazaly Aguilar, and others, seeking support for the cause of Cuba and presenting information about the situation in the country. Participation in events and conferences: Cuba Demanda Inc. participated in conferences and events such as the Va por Cuba Congress in Barcelona and the conference on Cuba, economy, and sustainability in Nuremberg, using these platforms to discuss human rights issues and the political situation in Cuba. Contact with officials and key figures: The organization communicated with senior EU officials, such as the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the President of the European Commission.

NGO ODV Democrazia e Liberta' and its leader Sadiel Gonzalez are fighting for Human Rights in Cuba, as Cuba Demanda Inc. is too. We have also provided information to Prisoner Defenders and Mr. Javier Larrondo regarding prisoner of conscience Luis Robles. Cuba Demanda Inc. works with many other organizations fighting for democratic changes in Cuba such as "Observatorio Cubano de Derechos Humanos" based on Madrid, Spain, Cuba Decide, based in Miami Florida and Somos + based in Miami, Florida amongst others.
