Mission & Interests
Goals: The goals of the CLC are to maintain and promote the rule or law, social justice and pluralist democracy in the Republic of Croatia, including the promotion of significance of the civil society and human rights protection. The main program orientations of the CLC are legal advocacy (in order to raise the standards of human rights protection); monitoring the work of public authorities (in order to contribute to the implementation of the principles of legality and good governance in the conduct of these bodies); legal education (in order to contribute to the dissemination of legal knowledge and the creation of an independent and highly professional legal profession) and public policies (in order to contribute to the quality of policies of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, regional and local self-government units for the promotion of the common good).

The project aimed to assess the extent to which Croatia and Slovenia have successfully implemented the Regulation and empirically investigate the way in which the provisions of the Regulation and the provisions of the national implementing legislation are applied in practice.

Defence Rights in Evidentiary Procedures — DREP
The first aim of the project is to improve the implementation of the EU Directives on the procedural rights of suspects and accused persons through increasing knowledge of good and bad practices in EU Member States related to remedies available in case of breach of the Directives. The second aim is to strengthen mutual trust and cross-border cooperation in the exchange of evidence by expanding the knowledge base and encouraging dialogue on standards and practices for the admissibility of the use of evidence in criminal proceedings.

Improved response to intolerance through research, strategic advocacy, and training – IRIS
The objectives of the project are: a) research the effectiveness of processing of the identified cases of hate crime in Croatia by law enforcement and Judiciary; b) to create recommendations for improvement of practice of investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of hate crimes; c) to present and discuss the findings of research and recommendations for improved response to hate crime to relevant national stakeholders; d)To advocate for mainstreaming of project recommendations into the practice of relevant institutions; e) To incorporate the findings of the research on the effectiveness of the hate crime response into the training program for first-contact professionals.

Advancing Access to Rights under Victims' Directive for Persons with Disabilities – ARVID
The objective of the project is to investigate the level of participation of persons with disabilities as victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings, as well as possible problems that limit their full participation.

Victim-centered approach to improving support services– VICATIS
The objectives of the project are: a) to improve understanding of the impact of regulation, procedures, and institutional framework on victims of crime through victim-centred research; b) to contribute to advanced regulatory, procedural and institutional framework for effective and coherent application of the Directive; c) to develop tools supporting the realisation of the victim’s right to information and referral to support services.
