Mission & Interests
Goals: EKPIZO – Consumers’ Association The Quality of Life established in 1988, protects consumer rights and improves their quality of life; it is a nongovernmental, nonprofit and accredited association, administered by a 7 members Board, has over 22000 members, 7 employees and 36 volunteers (2022 data).
Our financial sources, strictly defined by law, are only allowed from members’ fees, collective actions, subsidies/grants from national, EU and other international Public Institutions and Foundations.
EKPIZO’ s multi annual work has led to jurisdiction’s creation and legal reforms; due to its court and out of court actions EKPIZO members got back over 21,5 million euro illegally withheld by companies
EKPIZO has carried out over 110 mainly EU and some national projects

Communication Activities: In general, EKPIZO:
- as member of BEUC- ANEC participates mostly indirectly on the above mentioned activities, through internal consultations for the final position development. Also it sends directly letters to the EU institutions when necessary
- responds to national official requests for comments/opinion on EU legislation-other matters
- promotes the common positions of ANEC and BEUC at national level
- responds to requests of external companies assigned to review-evaluate EU legislation
- before Covid-19 pandemic participated in several events organized by the EU Representation in Greece, the European Parliament Office in Greece
- during economic crisis met with several MEPs, Troika, Task Force and gave many interviews to EU-international TV and Radio Stations
- participated in several EΕSC meetings held in Greece
- has participated in several EU campaigns, promoted them via its social media disseminated relevant material, etc
- EKPIZO participated in the EP campaign/petition /consultation on new Genomic Technics
- We participated in the European Citizens' Initiative that supported Νutriscore obligatory adoption at EU level (2019-2020)
- Food Sustainability: participated in an eleven country on line survey; it aimed at better understanding the expectations and attitudes of consumers in relation to food
sustainability, the obstacles they face in making more sustainable food choices and the measures which
they think are needed to make the sustainable choice easier.
