Mission & Interests

Goals: The promotion of remanufacturing as an essential element of industrial policy that defends the EU Single Market. We aim to grow remanufacturing sales by organisations based in Europe to €100 billion by 2030 principally by ensuring a more competitive regulatory and fiscal framework for such economic activities.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Industrial Policy, EU Single Market, Circular Economy, Critical Raw Materials, External Relations (USA, Canada, China and India in particular), Product Policy and Eco-Design.
Communication Activities: The CER was established in January 2017 following the highly successful Horizon 2020 funded research project ERN (European Research Network) - the outputs from which are at www.remanufacturing.eu . We provide speakers to events and conferences in Brussels. Our annual meetings have been held in Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam. In November 2020 we joined the steering group of the EU Circular Economy Stakeholders Platform. We are members of the UN Product Life Extension working group and David Fitzsimons is a member of the World Economic Forum Council for advanced manufacturing and supply chains. David Fitzsimons is an expert participant on the development of ISO 59000 for the Circular Economy. We encourage members to participate in EU R&D programmes and assit in creating research teams of academics and industry partners.

Complementary Information: From April 2022, the activities of the European Remanufacturing Council will be managed by a branch office in Belgium of Oakdene Hollins Ltd. Registration on Moniteur Belge from 1st April 2022 number 0783.400.803 Oakdene Hollins is a benficiary of two EU funded research projects VAMOS and ECOBULK. Both of which are completed as of March 2024.

Info Members: Although based in Brussels - our focus is not exclusively in Brussels. We participate in technical and academic conferences in Europe and internationally as well work with the World Economic Forum and UN Environment Programme. The promotion of global standards for product life extension and product value retention is of particular interest via CEN/CENELEC and ISO.
