Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: The CAA is invested in ensuring free access to cultural heritage data while maintaining privacy, copyright and security issues. For members of the CAA it is thereby of high relevance that common data structures are adhered to to ensure accessibility and usability. Important questions to answer thereby include among others: access regulation, maintenance, cost, provenance and retrievability - in particular considering size, distribution and type of data.
To this end, the CAA is interested in influencing and contributing to the common European data space for cultural heritage (CEDCHE, Europeana) - related to policy areas Culture, Information Society. Also related to the Data Act (awaiting approval).
In addition, the CAA has a strong focus on education and teaching - in particular for developing joint curriculums between archaeologists and computer scientists. In dedicated working groups, key material has been developed and discussed. This relates to the European strategy for universities, respectively to the activities of the CULT (culture and education) committee.
Communication Activities: - yearly workshops and conferences on national and international level covering all topics related to digital humanities and cultural heritage (see e.g. https://ariadne-infrastructure.eu/caa-2021-roundtable-well-attended/)
- special interest working groups on various topics related to digital humanities and cultural heritage
- webcasts on the same topics
- newsletters and blog entries on the same topics
- a dedicated Journal of the CAA (on the same topics)
