Mission & Interests
Goals: Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe is recognised as Europe's leading network working on climate and energy issues. With over 200 member organisations active in 40 European countries, representing over 1700 NGOs and more than 40 million citizens, CAN Europe unites to work to prevent dangerous climate change and promote sustainable energy and environment policy in Europe.
The Climate Action Network (CAN) International is a worldwide network of over 1500 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working to promote government, private sector and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels. CAN is based on trust, openness and democracy.
The vision of CAN is a world striving actively towards and achieving the protection of the global climate in a manner that promotes equity and social justice between peoples, sustainable development of all communities, and protection of the global environment. Info Members: The people involved in the EU-influencing are indeed engaged in preparing messages, policy positions and in joining meetings and events with the goal to convene our priorities to EU policy makers (with different levels of responsibilities and percentage of their working time).
Please note that CAN Europe secretariat counts approx 60 people (around 35 people based in Belgium, the rest spread in several European countries).

The Climate Action Network (CAN) is a worldwide network of over 1500 Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working to promote government and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels.
CAN members work to achieve this goal through the coordination of information exchange and NGO strategy on international, regional and national climate issues. CAN has 15 regional offices which co-ordinate these efforts in Australia, Canada, China, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus, Europe, France, Latin America, North Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Southern Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States and West Africa..
CAN members place a high priority on both a healthy environment and development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (Brundtland Commission). Climate Action Network's vision is to protect the atmosphere while allowing for sustainable and equitable development worldwide.
