Mission & Interests

Goals: CIVINET CY-EL is the Greek-speaking national network of CIVITAS and the national multiplier of ELTIS. During 2019-2022 it was also a key partner of the Urban Transports Community of Interreg MED. Its main role is: 1) raising awareness among citizens, mobility practitioners, stakeholders and politicians 2) capacity building of the staff of public and private sector 3) providing funding opportunities and supporting local authorities in implementing sustainable mobility measures 4) supporting governments for the appropriate adaptation of the legislative framework 5) promoting the achievements and the needs of its members, at national and European level

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: - new EU urban mobility framework, COM(2021)811final - EU mission 100 climate-neutral and smart cities

Communication Activities: We organise at least 2-3 workshops and/or webinars on sustainable mobility per year in the framework of CIVITAS, ELTIS and Interreg MED, since 2018. We organised the 1st CIVINET Forum in Greece during December 2021 and the 1st Mediterranean Mobility Forum in Athens during October 2022, involving DG MOVE, CIVITAS, ELTIS, EMW, EPOMM, EIT UM, Interreg MED and other EU initiatives. We have translated the ELTIS Topic Guide "UVAR" and we prepared a new practitioner briefing for ELTIS and CIVITAS regarding "Sustainable Mobility on Greek Islands and Sustainable Island Mobility Plans (SIMPs)". We have authored the 1st Urban Transports Project Policy Brief on "Active Mobility" in the framework of Interreg MED programme. We run the CIVINET Greece-Cyprus Digital Forum in a daily basis since 2018 in the framework of CIVITAS initiative.
