Mission & Interests
Goals: CIO Platform Nederland is the Dutch association of business users of digital technologies. Its members are (non-IT vendor and non-IT-consultancy) enterprises and public institutions, that are repressented by their CIO/CDO/IT directors. We organize sessions and communities where members can share ambitions, challenges, questions and concerns. The CIO Platform Nederland has been facilitating active collaboration and practical knowledge sharing since 2005 and makes members' insights and experience accessible to peers. We also voice the experiences, views and concerns of our community towards policy makers and vendor communities. This strengthens all members in their digital transformation.

Communication Activities: Participating in creating/focussing Europe's digital policy agendas and legislative instruments and informing our members about them. Addressing (mal)functioning of competition framework after sale has been done in software market (vendor lock-in related practices), GDPR implementation knowledge sharing within our community and reporting back on implementation problems (like ineffective/inefficient practice of making user of software responsible for compliance of software with GDPR, whereas user is hardly ever in a position to seriously challenge the provider). Providing input on proposed policies and regulation like new competition tool, Digital Markets Act, Data Governance Act, AI Act, Data Act, Digiprinciples en Cyber Resilience Act. Info Members: This is a relatively small, but increasingly important and time consuming part of our scope. Our association doesn't have the resources to allocate more time to policy initiatives. Our members focus on concrete and practical value added exchange of information. An exchange of views with European level politicians and policy makers is regarded as necessary to make sure existing and new legislation is compatible with the specific characteristics of (the use of) digital technologies in practical circumstances. These views and experiences may sometimes coincide with those of the big tech companies, but are in some cases explicitly not aligned, or even exactly opposite to them. European business users of IT and digital technology need to be heard more in Brussels, therefore some capacity has been allocated to share our experiences, views, concerns and interests with 'Brussels'.
