Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: As a Ukrainian NGO, we are interested in the EU legislative proposals /EU measures concerning Ukraine : - Provision of humanitarian, political, financial and military support to Ukraine and its people - Imposition of sanctions against Russia in order to put economic pressure on it and compromise its military capabilities - The EU has provided Ukrainians with access to employment, housing, education, training and health care in the first ever activation of the temporary protection mechanism - Adoption of the REPowerEU plan, the EU will gradually eliminate Europe's dependence on Russian fossil energy while boosting renewable energy and energy security On a more global scale, we are interested in knowing the following legislative packages “A European Green Deal” “A Europe fit for the digital age” “An Economy that works for people” “A Stronger Europe in the World” “Promoting our European way of life” “A new push for European Democracy“
Communication Activities: In 2014, the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union was signed. The integration of Ukraine into the European economic and political-legal space is a complex and multi-level process that includes reforming the political, economic and social institutions of the state. On February 28, 2022, Ukraine applied for EU membership. On April 8, 2022, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, visited Kyiv on an official visit and handed over the application form for acquiring the status of a candidate country. We believe in the value of the European Union and support the idea of Ukraine's membership in the EU. During all these years, after CCL was established in 2007, after the Revolution of Dignity we clearly advocated for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic cooperation. Regularly CCL conducts webinars and training on EU, CoE, UN structure, history and responsibility. see https://ccl.org.ua/en/news/the-proposal-for-a-european-artificial-intelligence-act-regulating-the-use-of-ai-for-law-enforcement-purposes/ CCL translated the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union into Ukrainian (see https://ccl.org.ua/posts/2021/11/hartiya-osnovnyh-prav-yevropejskogo-soyuzu/ ) CCL CEO regularly meets in Kyiv and abroad with EU officials from the European Parliament and European Commission and its bodies. Complementary Information: Center for Civic Liberties (CCL), as a human rights organization, has deliberately chosen not to accept government funding so that it can remain independent. CCL is at the initial stage of diversification of these financial sources, and шт 2021 was 99.99% donor-dependent, receiving no funds from other sources such as government, business, membership contributions, or social entrepreneurship, and receives less than 0.01% from citizens. According to the Fundraising Strategy, financial assistance from the business sector is still at the initial stage; activation is planned later. CCL plans to implement a crowdfunding mechanism to raise funds from citizens and businesses, but in 2021 it collected only 10,062 UAH (its 250 EUR) from citizens, less than 0.01% of the annual budget. In 2022 situation changed due to the start of the Russian military invasion. Program reports and stakeholders' interviews testify to CCL’s capacity to successfully fulfill its mission and develop a strong reputation as an opinion leader in the sector. Such documents include program reports, yearly reports and stakeholders' interviews ect.
